Dosvox 6.3

Dosvox is a free, Portuguese-language accessible computing suite developed by the Núcleo de Computação Eletrônica (NCE) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Designed for people who are blind or have low vision, it provides a keyboard-driven interface with built-in speech output that enables users to operate a Windows PC independently. The system includes an integrated screen reader and a set of coordinated applications—such as a text editor, file and email tools, simple web navigation, a calculator, media utilities, educational modules, and games—so learners encounter consistent commands and feedback across tasks. Optimized for Brazilian Portuguese, Dosvox is lightweight, works offline, and is often used in training centers and introductory computer courses to build digital literacy quickly. Backed by decades of development and an active community, Dosvox lowers barriers to information, communication, and education for Portuguese-speaking users who rely on audio access.
